Facebook Political Ads – level 3

18-09-2019 07:00

Last year, Facebook required political advertisers to confirm their identity and location so that users could verify their information, but some advertisers gave false information.

This year, Facebook is requiring them to give more details, such as identification numbers. If they give the necessary information, they will show up on Facebook as a “Confirmed Organization.” Users can also check all of their details.

Facebook says that this change will let users look into the legitimacy of an advertiser or an organization, and it will let them ask questions if they do not trust the information.

Difficult words: verify (look into, check), confirmed (proven to be true), legitimacy (if something is legitimate – real, not fake).
