Giorgio Armani, the Italian fashion designer, died at 91.

He changed men’s fashion in the 1970s when he made the jacket lighter and easier to wear. His simple style became famous, and he built a big company that sold clothes, perfumes, furniture, and hotels. Armani became a symbol of Italian fashion around the world.

He was born in 1934 in Piacenza and later moved to Milan. He studied medicine but left and started to work in fashion. After helping designer Nino Cerruti, he opened his own label in 1975. His designs appeared in Hollywood films, and many stars wore his suits.

Armani never sold his company and wanted it to stay independent. His family and close team will continue his work.
