18-02-2022 07:00

The hijab is a piece of clothing. It covers the whole body and head. Some Muslim women wear it. Some Muslim women wear a burqa. A burqa is a headscarf.

Some people are Muslims in India. The government changes some rules for Muslim people.

Muslim students in India have problems in schools. The government in Karnataka state bans the hijab in state schools. Women can’t go to school when they wear it.

Muslim women protest. They say that they can wear religious clothes. It is something that they can officially do.

Muslim students return to school after one week. It is not the end. Officials say that they don’t want burqas and hijabs in schools.

Difficult words: headscarf (a square piece of cloth which a woman wears on her head), ban (to officially stop something), religious (related to a god).
