Iran closes the Strait of Hormuz

Iran said it would close the Strait of Hormuz for several hours for military drills. This place is very important because 20% of the world’s oil moves through it.

The news came during nuclear talks between Iran and the United States in Geneva. Iran fired rockets as part of the exercises. The US also sent more soldiers to the area. Both countries say talks are happening, but they still don’t agree on important things.

The US wants Iran’s nuclear program to stop and says Iran must not build nuclear weapons. Iran says it wants a fair deal and doesn’t like the US’s strong words. Talks will continue, but problems in the area are still there.

Difficult words: military drill (when soldiers prepare for real fighting), agree (to say yes), weapon (a gun, bomb, or rocket).
