Liberland is a new project to start a country on a small piece of land near the Danube River between Serbia and Croatia. It was created in 2015 by a man from the Czech Republic named Vít Jedlička.

He wants to build a state with no taxes and very few laws. People who give more money will have more power in the government.

Many people like this idea because they want more freedom from traditional governments. But the project has many big problems. No official country recognizes Liberland, and Croatian police stop people from living there permanently.

At this moment, Liberland has no real roads or houses, only two tree houses and a small beach. While supporters hope for a better future, Liberland remains just a big dream rather than a real country.

Difficult words: freedom (when you can act, speak, think, or live without unnecessary rules or control), recognize (to officially accept the legal status or truth of something), permanently (when something lasts forever or doesn’t end after a short time).
