New euro money – level 2

The European Central Bank has shown ten finalist designs for new euro cash notes. Over 1,200 ideas were sent in, but leaders chose two big ideas to show European culture and nature.
The first idea features famous historic leaders in art, science, and music, such as Leonardo da Vinci, Maria Callas, Marie Curie, and Beethoven. The second idea features wild birds and beautiful rivers, and shows the need to protect nature and animals across Europe.
People living in the EU can vote for their favorite idea in an online survey on the bank’s website. After the vote, the central bank will start printing the new paper money. People are expected to start using these new euro notes from the end of 2026.
Difficult words: finalist (a person, team, or idea that reaches the last stage of a competition), note (a piece of paper money), feature (to show, include, or give special attention to something or someone as an important part).
