New Planet with Water – level 2
Scientists discovered water vapor in the atmosphere of a distant exoplanet. The planet named K2-18b is 111 light years away.
It is the first exoplanet with water to exist near its star’s livable area, which makes it a perfect candidate to search for alien life. The next step is going to be to detect chemicals around the planet. That will be possible within the next 10 years. These chemicals could show if anything lives on the planet.
Difficult words: vapor (a fog), distant (very far away), exoplanet (a planet which orbits a star other than the sun), light year (a long distance to measure how far things are in space).
You can watch the original video in the Level 3 section.
