Norwich Castle opens again – level 1
20-08-2025 07:00
Norwich Castle is 900 years old. People build it in 1121. After a big 27.5 million-pound makeover, it opens again on August 13th 2025. The castle is now called The People’s Palace.
For the first time, people can go to all five floors, from the basement to the top. A new lift helps wheelchairs and pushchairs get to the roof. Inside the castle, there are rooms which look like Norman royal rooms. Visitors can see furniture, lights, and laser shows in the big hall. There is also a new gallery with more than 900 old objects from the British Museum.
Long ago, Norwich is very rich from the wool trade, and people call it England’s second city.
Difficult words: makeover (a big change or improvement), basement (the floor of a building which is below the ground), wool (the soft, curly hair of a sheep or goat).
You can watch the original video in the Level 3 section.
What makes it possible for people in wheelchairs and pushchairs to reach the roof?
