People find strange things on a beach – level 2

11-07-2025 07:00

A woman named Janet found something on a beach in Canada. She thought it was an old landmine from World War II. She told the police. They waited for a team from Gagetown to check it.

Janet remembered a story from her childhood. Her sister said they once found a big metal ball on the beach and took it home. Their dad was very scared because it was a real mine. He told them to lie down and wait.

Jeff Allard works with a special team at CFB Gagetown. He says they get many calls every year about old bombs or other dangerous things. These things can be in fields, homes, or even cemeteries. In the end, Janet’s object was not a bomb. It was an old gas tank.

Difficult words: landmine (a bomb under the ground), childhood (the time when you are a child), cemetery (a place where we bury dead people).

You can watch the original video in the Level 3 section.

What types of locations does Jeff Allard mention as places where his team frequently investigates old bombs or other dangerous objects?
