Plane crashes in Egypt – level 2

05-11-2015 07:00

A Russian plane crashed in Egypt. All of the 224 passengers were Russian, 17 of them children. The plane was flying from Sharm el-Sheikh to St Petersburg.

About 25 minutes after take-off, the airbus lost contact with air traffic control. It was travelling at 9.4 kilometres.

People are investigating the incident. The Egyptian Prime Minister said that it was too soon to determine the cause.

Vladimir Putin also ordered an official investigation into the crash. He expressed his condolences to the families.

Difficult words: determine (to find out, to be able to tell), cause (why something happened), express condolences (to say that you are sorry that something happened).

You can read the original story and watch the video in the Level 3 section.
