Protest in Vienna – level 2

09-02-2016 15:00

The Austrian far-right Freedom Party in Vienna organised a ball. The ball takes place every year in the Homburg Palace, and it is part of the Viennese ball season. The ball usually attracts right-wing leaders from all over Europe, including members of the French National Front and German anti-Islam movement.

Some people do not like that the political groups organise a ball and they protest. Hundreds of police are in the streets to watch the protesters.

Difficult words: far-right (a group that believes that countries should stay traditional), front (an organised political group), movement (an organised political group).

You can read the original story and watch the video in the Level 3 section.

What do you think about the ball?
