Queen Margrethe II abdicates – level 2

In her New Year speech, Queen Margrethe II of Denmark surprised everyone when she announced that she would abdicate.

On January 14, 2024, which is the anniversary of her accession, she will step down. Her son Crown Prince Frederik will be the new head of Denmark.  The queen decided to step down because of her health problems. She underwent a back surgery in February. The Danish Prime Minister thanked the queen for her work.

People know Queen Margrethe II for her kindness and talent in languages and design, will keep the title Her Majesty.
