Rio Carnival Parade – level 3

22-02-2018 07:00

The 2018 Champion’s parade at the Rio Carnival in Brazil had an anti-establishment tone as the country is in the midst of problems. It has just come out of one of its worst recessions in modern times.

One Samba dancer also said that the country is still struggling against slavery, but the dancers want to share this message with joy and the community’s support.

Difficult words: anti-establishment (against the government and the people normally in charge of a place), tone (a general attitude about something), recession (when an economy stops making money for some time), Samba (a type of dance that comes from Brazil).
