Saving the Amazon – level 1

08-06-2023 07:00

In Brazil, there are nonprofit groups which want to save the Amazon rainforest.

But they have some problems. People take the land, and they do not have much money. It is also hard to grow the right trees and grow enough of them. Some people attack the workers. But this work can help stop climate change and save animals.

Brazil has a lot of land to grow new trees. But the country needs a lot of money for that. The government is giving less money now. The groups keep working. We do not know if they will be successful, but it is important to try.

Difficult words: nonprofit (an organization which does not make money), rainforest (a forest in a tropical area where it rains a lot), climate change (changes in the weather).

You can watch the original video in the Level 3 section.

What approaches do the nonprofit groups in Brazil use to raise money for their efforts to save the Amazon rainforest?
