Spongebob Squarepants, an animated TV show created by Stephen Hillenburg, first appeared on TV in 1999 and it is still running today.
Actor Bill Fagerbakke, the voice of one of the characters, remembers how he felt when he first read the script of the show. He thought that it was a weird show for small children; however, he soon realized that Spongebob Squarepants was unique.
Twenty years later, an American TV network, Nickelodeon, is preparing a deal with Netflix. The two companies are working on a deal worth more than $200 milion. Netflix hopes to attract more young viewers to be able to compete with Disney Plus, a new platform with children’s programes.
Stephen Hilenburg is excited about the show and he is happy to represent the value of animation to today’s children.
Difficult words: unique (special), compete (to try to be more successful than someone else), value (the importance of something).
