Teenagers kill Brianna Ghey – level 2

08-02-2024 07:00

Manchester court sentenced Scarlett Jenkinson and Eddie Ratcliffe, both 16, to life in prison. One year ago, they brutally killed Brianna Ghey, a transgender girl.

Jenkinson received a minimum of 22 years, while Ratcliffe, a former kickboxer, got 20 years. The crime was partly motivated by Brianna’s transgender identity. The court revealed disturbing details, including 28 stab wounds. Jenkinson was obsessed with serial killers and she admitted that she wanted parts of Brianna’s body as a token.

The judge warned that the pair might never get out of prison if they remain a danger.

Difficult words: transgender (a person who feels to be a different identity than the sex they were born with), obsessed (when your mind is full of something and you can’t stop thinking about it), token (a symbol or sign).

You can watch the original video in the Level 3 section.

What were some details revealed by the court about the murder of Brianna Ghey and the motivations behind the crime?
