Thai King is Dead – level 2

18-10-2016 07:00

The Thai King ruled over Thailand for 70 years, making him the longest ruling monarch. He died last week.

People moved his body through Bangkok to the palace. Thousands of people watched the procession and many cried and prayed. For many people, he was the only king in their lifetime.

People took the king’s body to the Grand Palace and it will lie there in the temple. The Crown Prince, the dead king’s 64-year-old son, will do a bathing ceremony of the king’s body as a ritual.

Difficult words: rule (be king of), monarch (somebody like the king, queen or emperor), procession (a parade or a ceremony when people walk slowly through the streets because something important happened).

You can watch the original video in the Level 3 section.
