The human hunters of Sarajevo – level 2
05-06-2025 07:00
There was a big war in Bosnia in the 1990s. Sarajevo, the capital city, was in danger for four years. Snipers and bombs killed many people, and life was very hard. People were afraid to leave their homes because snipers could shoot them.
John Jordan, a man from the US, went to help people in Sarajevo. He gave clothes and tools to firefighters. He worked in the city while bombs and snipers were around. In 2007, he spoke in court. He said that rich people from other countries came to Sarajevo to shoot people for fun. Jordan said that these people were from Italy, the US, Canada, and Russia, and they paid a lot of money to hunt people in Sarajevo.
There is no strong proof of this, but some reporters looked into the story. It shows how war can make people do very bad things.
Difficult words: sniper (a person who hides and shoots people), hunt (to kill for sport or food), proof (a fact or piece of information which shows that something exists or is true).
You can watch the original video in the Level 3 section.
Which countries did John Jordan say the wealthy visitors who paid to hunt people in Sarajevo came from?
