A tornado hits the Czech Republic. The country is in the middle of Europe. Tornadoes do not happen often in Europe. Many tornadoes happen in areas where nobody lives.

Many strong storms hit the southeastern Czech Republic on Thursday. The speed of the wind is more than 219 kmph. Hailstones fall from the sky. They are as big as tennis balls.

Three people die in the storms. More than a hundred people must go to hospital. Rescuers look for more hurt people. Rescuers from Slovakia and Austria help them.

There is an emergency situation. The Czech government asks the EU for help.

Difficult words: speed (how fast something is), hailstone (a ball of ice which falls from the sky), emergency (a very dangerous or bad situation).
