Two World War II veterans meet – level 2
12-08-2025 07:00
Tom Fitzpatrick is 101 years old and worked as a radio navigator on a B-17 bomber in Italy in World War II. He thought he was the last member of his squadron.
College student Tyler Boland, who talks to veterans, found Stanley Eisenberg, also 101, who was an armorer in the same unit. They both served in the 15th Air Force, 96th Bomb Squadron. Even though they lived only 15 minutes apart, they didn’t know about each other for 81 years. Tyler helped them meet and share stories about their time in the war.
Tom and Stanley said the meeting was very special. They want young people to remember what happened in the war and understand what soldiers went through.
Difficult words: navigator (a person who plans the way for a ship or plane), squadron (a group of military planes and their crews), armorer (a person who repairs and takes care of weapons).
You can watch the original video in the Level 3 section.
How did college student Tyler Boland bring together two 101-year-old veterans who had served in the same squadron but never met despite living only 15 minutes apart?
