Washington anti-abortion protests – level 1

26-01-2023 15:00

In the past, pregnant women have a choice in the US. They can decide if they want to have the baby. A law says they can decide. The situation changes in June 2022.

A court cancels this law. Now, every US state has its own rules. Abortion is against the law in some states. Many people protest.

The US president wants to change the law. He believes that every woman can decide if she wants a baby. The president does not have enough power to change the law.

A protest happens in Washington DC. It happens every year since 1973. Protesters say that abortion should be against the law in the county.

Difficult words: pregnant (a woman who has a baby inside her body), abortion (a surgery which means that a woman is not pregnant anymore), protest (to say or show you are not happy with the government; a protester is a person who protests).

You can watch the original video in the Level 3 section.
