Water in Venice – level 2

06-02-2019 15:00

Heavy rains in Italy caused an unusually high tide, and parts of Venice’s historic centre were flooded. Water went up by around 113 centimetres so most people walked on wooden platforms. Some just walked through the water in rubber boots.

Difficult words: tide (high tide is when water moves towards the land, low tide is when it moves away from land), flood (go under water), platform (a side walk which looks like a small bridges).

You can watch the original video in the Level 3 section.
