Weight-loss drugs – level 2

25-12-2023 07:00

Investors are optimistic about new weight-loss drugs, such as Nova nordis SPI and Eli zip bound, which should treat obesity effectively.

More than 40% of Americans are obese, but these drugs cost more than 1,000 dollars per month without insurance, and possible side effects may stop people from using them. Analysts predict that by the beginning of 2024, only a few of the 100 million obese Americans will use these therapies. Companies and governments are not willing to pay for these drugs, which has an impact, too.

Although there are problems in the industry, packaged food, and medical firms are already experiencing stock decrease.

Difficult words: side effect (a secondary effect of a drug, usually a negative one), therapy (the way of dealing with a health problem), packaged food (food which people pack and sell).

You can watch the original video in the Level 3 section.

What are some potential obstacles that may prevent the widespread use of new weight-loss drugs like Nova nordis SPI and Eli zip bound, despite investors' optimism and the high rate of obesity in America?
