New phones and computers now cost more money. But they do not give you much better features. This is happening because companies building AI computers need a lot of memory chips.

Chip makers prefer to sell to these big AI companies because they pay more. Because memory is hard to find, phone and laptop makers must raise prices or use less memory in their devices.

People are not happy to pay more for less. Instead of buying new phones every year, many people now keep their old phones longer or buy used phones to save money.

Difficult words: feature (a specific function of a product), memory chip (a small electronic part which stores information and runs programs), device (a piece of equipment or hardware, like a phone or computer).
