Winter help to Ukraine – level 2

France hosted a meeting to help Ukraine through the harsh winter.
More than 70 countries and institutions promised to send Ukraine more than 1.05 billion dollars between December and March. Over 440 million dollars will help Ukraine’s energy sector. Russian airstrikes damaged Ukraine’s energy grid and important infrastructure. The rest of the money will maintain water and food supplies, health, and transportation.
According to officials, more and more countries supported Ukraine, and Qatar and Cambodia were among them. Ukraine’s prime minister said that he was grateful to all countries, and the help signaled that the whole civilized world supported Ukraine.
Difficult words: energy sector (companies which make and sell energy), energy grid (power lines which move energy to buildings and homes), civilized world (countries with a high level of culture, science, and government).
