Actor Russel Brand will go to court – level 2

07-11-2023 15:00

Russell Brand, a British actor and comedian, is facing a lawsuit. A woman said that he attacked her when she was a film extra during the making of the 2011 movie ‘Arthur’.

The woman known as Jane Doe says that Brand forced her to have sex with her in a restroom. Several other women said that Brand attacked them, and some incidents happened almost 20 years ago. British police are investigating what happened, but the New York lawsuit is the first to go to court.  The film’s distributor Warner Bros Pictures is in trouble, too. Doe said that they knew about Brand’s bad behavior on set but they didn’t do anything about it.

Brand denied on social media that he did anything wrong, and his representatives didn’t comment on the lawsuit.

Difficult words: lawsuit (legal action against someone), film extra (a person who appears in a movie but he or she doesn’t speak or sing), behavior (how a person acts towards others).

You can watch the original video in the Level 3 section.

What action, if any, do you think Warner Bros Pictures should have taken regarding the allegations of Russell Brand's behavior?
