Airport cyber-attacks – level 1

25-09-2025 07:00

Heathrow Airport in London has a big problem. A cyber-attack hits the computer for check-in and bags. Brussels and Berlin airports also have problems. People wait for a long time. Some flights stop.

In Brussels, people wait for many hours, and some flights stop. In Berlin, people stand in long lines. At Heathrow, many flights are late. People cannot take the next flight when the first flight is late.

Collins Aerospace is the company with the problem. This company makes the computer system at airports. Airlines give food, a hotel, and new flights to people. But airlines do not give money, because it is not their mistake.

The cyber-attack makes airports in Europe very slow. The attack shows that one problem has an impact on thousands of people.

Difficult words: flight (when a plane flies), airline (a company which operates planes), mistake (when you do something wrong).

You can watch the original video in the Level 3 section.

What services do airlines provide to passengers affected by the computer system outage, and why don’t they offer financial compensation?
