Airport cyber-attacks – level 2

Heathrow Airport in London had problems because of a cyber-attack on check-in and baggage software. Brussels and Berlin airports also had big delays.
The problem started with Collins Aerospace, the company that makes the system. In Brussels, many flights stopped, and passengers had to wait for a long time. Berlin also had long lines. Heathrow had many delays, which made people miss connections to other flights.
Travel reporters said the attack was serious because it happened on a busy travel day. Airlines now need to give passengers new flights, food, and hotels when delays are too long. But travelers won’t get money, because the airlines didn’t cause the problem. The attack shows how one system problem can hurt travel across many airports in Europe.
