Australia will vote on Indigenous people – level 1

04-09-2023 15:00

Australia wants to change the rules to respect Aboriginal people. People will vote about this on October 14.

Prime Minister Anthony Albanese thinks that this is a big chance. It can bring everyone together. A group of Indigenous people will talk with the government. Not all people agree with the vote. Some people say that it will help Indigenous people. But others worry that it will divide the country.

Australia has hard votes in the past. And this is an important one.

Difficult words: Aboriginal people (the people who live in Australia for a very long time), divide (to separate).

You can watch the original video in the Level 3 section.

What do you think the outcome of the October 14 vote in Australia will be?
