Baby One-Horned Rhino – level 3

25-05-2018 15:00

At the Chester Zoo, a rare greater one-horned rhino calf had his public debut. He was born in 20 minutes to his mother Asha and weighed 60 kilogrammes at that time.

The healthy calf is a great help to the breeding programme for this species of rhino. The zoo is also working in Asia to help this rhino and restore its natural habitat.

Difficult words: debut (the first public showing), breeding programme (a method to help animals breed – have babies), natural habitat (the normal environment for an animal or a plant).
