Bear attacks in Japan – level 1

20-11-2025 07:00

In northern Japan, many bears come near towns. They hurt people. Police must cull some bears. Japanese workers go to Montana in the US to learn good ideas. Many bear expert workers live there. They help people and animals every day.

The workers use electric fences and clean areas with garbage. They also talk to the community and tell people how to stay safe. When people see a bear, they call the workers and get help fast.

Japan wants more trained workers. Many students like this work, but they do not find jobs easily. Japan needs more people who can help with bears and keep towns safe.

Difficult words: cull (to kill animals to stop danger), fence (a wooden or metal structure around an area), garbage (things which people throw away).

You can watch the original video in the Level 3 section.

What methods learned in Montana do workers use to protect both people and animals from bears in Japan?
