Brigitte Bardot dies – level 3

Brigitte Bardot was a very famous French film star who died at the age of 91.

She became well known in the 1950s after her role in the film And God Created Woman. Her strong style and free way of acting felt new at the time. Many people saw her as a sign of change for women in films and in society. She became popular not only in France but also around the world.

Although she enjoyed great success, Bardot often felt unhappy. She said fame made her feel trapped and alone. She faced many personal problems, and after many films and songs, she decided to leave the film world in the early 1970s. She then moved to Saint-Tropez and chose a quiet life away from public life.

In later years, Bardot focused on helping animals. She started a group to protect them and spoke strongly about this cause. Some of her political opinions caused anger and legal trouble; however, her cultural impact and work for animals remained important.

Difficult words: fame (being famous and known), trapped (not able to leave or feel free), cause (something you care about and want to help).
