Bulgaria has the euro – level 1

05-01-2026 07:00

Bulgaria uses the euro from New Year’s Day. Many companies like this change. Business with other countries gets easier. They use the same money. It saves time and cost.

Many people feel worried about prices. Life already costs more. People think that the euro will make prices rise. Political problems also worry many.

Older people and people far from cities find the change hard. Some political groups dislike the euro. They want to keep Bulgarian culture. Many people say no to the euro, even when experts say price changes stay small.

Difficult words: cost (money which you need to buy something), rise (to go up), culture (the way of life of people).

You can watch the original video in the Level 3 section.

Why do many companies like the switch to the euro?
