Bulletproof rooms in US schools – level 2

13-04-2023 07:00

People in the US continue to fight for stricter gun laws, but lawmakers haven’t implemented any legislation yet.  According to officials, this year, there were more mass shootings than days.

A security company in Alabama developed bulletproof safe rooms which can protect children during such incidents. KT Solutions created a collapsible bulletproof room which workers install inside classrooms. It is possible to set up the room in 10 seconds and it protects children and teachers in situations when there’s a shooter in the school. Each room costs more than 50,000 dollars.

Kevin Thomas is the designer of the rooms. He said that bulletproof rooms wouldn’t solve the problem of mass shootings, but they kept children safe if something like that happened.

Difficult words: implement (to make a rule or law effective), bulletproof (safe from damage by shooting), collapsible (something which you can fold into a small space).

You can watch the original video in the Level 3 section.

What do you think about Kevin Thomas's idea of bulletproof safe rooms?
