Climate Talk at WEF – level 3

28-01-2019 15:00

The World Economic Forum brings together some 2,500 top business leaders, international political leaders, economists, celebrities and journalists for up to four days to discuss the most pressing issues facing the world.

It happens in Switzerland annually.

Sir David Attenborough, an English broadcaster and natural historian, urged those in power to act on climate change before it is too late. He said that a lot of people realised the enormity of the problem only just now, but if we do not sort ourselves out within the next ten years, we are dooming our children and our grandchildren to a terrible future.

He said that we have to think about difficult and painful things because if we do not, there is only going to be a bigger difficulty and bigger pain.

Difficult words: issue (a problem), urge (ask, try to make somebody do something), enormity (the extreme seriousness of something).
