Crashing bicycles in Brussels- level 3

18-03-2015 15:00

A pair of cyclists in Brussels have braved more than a few bruises to create a video that has become an Internet sensation. So the question is, why they have done it? Well, it’s to highlight the plight of those who choose to travel around the Belgian capital on two wheels.

The video, which shows its makers crashing into street furniture as they cycle around the city, has become something of an Internet hit, reaching more than 100,000 views in just over three weeks, since it was published on the 11th of February.

The amateur video reflects a movement of growing discontent amongst cyclists in the city, in contrast to European cities, which lead the way for city cycling, such as Amsterdam and Copenhagen.

Difficult words: brave (to suffer something on purpose), bruise (a purple or brown mark on your skin you get when you are hurt), sensation (something that is very interesting), plight (situation), discontent (unhappiness).
