Disney parks are expensive – level 2
04-02-2026 07:00
Disney parks were once cheap enough for most families, but now, prices feel high. A one-day ticket that cost about 50 dollars in today’s money in the 1980s can now cost over 100 dollars. Annual passes almost doubled in ten years.
Food and souvenirs cost more, too, like a 6.50-dollar ice cream bar or expensive Mickey ears. Disney builds new rides and has new services, which makes prices higher. Ticket prices change by date, so busy days cost more. Parks now bring Disney more money than movies or TV.
Disney says higher costs and big projects cause price rises. Disney also has things like skip lines or expensive hotels. These extras can cost hundreds or thousands of dollars. Many fans still go, but they plan trips carefully or go less often.
Difficult words: annual pass (a ticket you pay for once and use for a whole year), souvenir (something you buy to remember a place), skip line (when you go past people who are waiting and don’t wait).
You can watch the original video in the Level 3 section.
What explanations does Disney offer for its rising ticket prices?
