Dublin police clear tent city – level 1

08-05-2024 07:00

About 200 tents are in the center of Dublin. Migrants live there.

The place is not safe anymore. It is dirty, too. Authorities decide to clear the tent city. Police use cars and trucks. Some people are happy that the tents are away. But other people believe this is about politics. The UK and Ireland fight about migrants. Both countries must do something.

Clearing the tent city shows how big the problem is. Ireland must do something with migrants. But it is not easy. Ireland must find better ways to help them.

Difficult words: tent (a shelter of strong cloth where people without home live), migrant (a person who moves to a place to have a better life), truck (a big car).

You can watch the original video in the Level 3 section.

What challenges does Ireland face in finding better ways to help migrants, and how does the UK's involvement play a role in this situation?
