English clubs play well in the Champions League – level 1

05-02-2026 07:00

English football clubs play very well in the Champions League this year.

Five of the eight teams in the next round come from England. They play many hard games. Players run fast and hit the ball strongly. Clubs use special plays to score. Clubs have enough money to buy good players.

Even if they play well first, players can get tired later. They play many games without a winter break. Other teams have a break. This can make English teams slow at the end.

The English league is very strong. Clubs have many fans and a lot of money. They try to win in Europe, but it is very hard to win the big cup.

Difficult words: round (a part of a game, like the first round, second round, or the final), score (to get a point or goal in a game), break (a short time to rest or stop playing).

You can watch the original video in the Level 3 section.

What factor mentioned in the text might cause English teams to lose pace towards the end of their Champions League campaign?
