English clubs play well in the Champions League – level 2

05-02-2026 07:00

English football clubs are very strong in the Champions League this year. Five of the eight teams in the last 16 come from England, and a sixth may join soon.

The English league has hard and fast games. Players learn to play strongly and smartly, which helps them in Europe. Teams also use special plays like corners and long throws to try to score. Also, English clubs have enough money to buy good players and coaches.

Even if English teams play well at first, they can get tired later. They play many games without a break while other teams rest. This can make them slow in the last matches. Experts say clubs from Spain, Germany, or France may do better at the end.

The English league is very strong and has many fans. Clubs can prepare for European games, but winning the big cup is not easy.

Difficult words: join (to become part of a group or team), corner (when the ball goes out at the side of the goal and you hit it back from the corner area), coach (the person who teaches players in sports).

You can watch the original video in the Level 3 section.

What impact does the congested English league schedule have on its clubs’ performance in the later stages of European tournaments?
