EU airports change the liquid limit – level 2
31-07-2025 07:00
Some airports in Europe will soon allow people to bring bigger bottles in their hand luggage. Today, people can only bring bottles with 100ml or less.
The change is possible because new machines can now check what is inside large bottles. Rome and Milan airports already have these machines, but they couldn’t use them before. Now, Europe says that the machines are good and can be used soon.
Some airports in Germany, Sweden, and other places will also get the machines, but not all airports have them yet. These machines are expensive, and it takes time to set them up. Therefore, the 100ml rule may still be in place at many airports for a while.
Difficult words: hand luggage (a small bag you take with you on the plane), set up (to prepare or install something so it is ready for use), in place (already working or to be used).
You can watch the original video in the Level 3 section.
Why might the 100ml rule remain in place at many airports?
