EU airports change the liquid limit – level 3
31-07-2025 07:00
Airport security in the EU might soon allow travelers to carry bottles of liquid larger than 100ml in their hand baggage.
This change is possible thanks to new screening technology that can detect dangerous materials even inside large liquid containers. These new machines have already been installed in some airports, such as Rome and Milan, but have not been used yet because they were waiting for final approval from the European Civil Aviation Conference. The European Commission has now confirmed that approval was given in June 2025, so airports that install the approved equipment will be allowed to use it soon. However, not all airports are ready yet, and some may need more time to buy and install the expensive machines. This fact means that while the 100ml rule may disappear in some places very soon, passengers should still check the rules at their specific airport before flying. The goal is to make travel easier and safer across the European Union with the help of better technology.
Difficult words: detect (to find or see something that is hidden or hard to notice), specific (exact or special, not general).
