Fewer cars in the streets of Baku – level 2

29-12-2025 07:00

Baku, Azerbaijan, is changing its transport system to make the city better for people. Streets now support walking, bikes, and buses more than cars.

The city has new bike lanes, bus lanes, and shared travel spaces. These changes help lower traffic and make the city cleaner.

Many people say they travel faster and spend less money. Bikes and scooters help with short trips, especially near work and home. Train and metro stations now have bike parking, so people can change transport easily.

The city also improves bus travel. Baku has new electric buses to help people who don’t have cars. City leaders say buses are important for the future. These changes show how transport can help people live better in cities.

Difficult words: transport (ways to travel), shared (used by more than one person), traffic (cars and other vehicles on the road).

You can watch the original video in the Level 3 section.

What features have been added at train and metro stations to make it easier for people to switch from cycling to public transit?
