Fluffy the alligator snapping turtle – level 2

19-02-2024 07:00

In Cumbria, people found an alligator snapping turtle which they named Fluffy.

Despite its cute name, Fluffy has a tough appearance and a strong bite. Denise Chamberlain, who knows these turtles from Florida, organized its rescue. These turtles are native to the US. They can break bones with their powerful jaws. In the UK, it is not illegal to keep them as pets, but they are difficult to care for, and people sometimes stop looking after them.

Chamberlain couldn’t find help, so she caught Fluffy herself and took it to a vet for examination. Fluffy will go to a special place for reptiles. Chamberlain believes that Fluffy was once a pet, and she says that it is important to take good care of exotic animals.

Difficult words: appearance (how someone or something looks), native (where someone or something originally comes from), reptile (a turtle, snake, crocodile, or similar animal).

You can watch the original video in the Level 3 section.

Why was Fluffy, the alligator snapping turtle, brought to the vet for examination and where will it go after?
