Greenland women want justice from Denmark – level 1

143 Indigenous women in Greenland are angry with Denmark.
In the 1960s and 1970s, doctors in Denmark implant them devices. These small plastic and metal devices stop them from having babies. These women do not agree with it. It is possible that doctors do not tell them the truth. The women say that Denmark wants to control birth in the past.
The women want money from Denmark. Every woman wants 40,000 euros. It makes 5.8 million euros altogether. This is not the only problem Denmark has with indigenous people in the past. They move indigenous people away. In some places, they force them to live among Danish people.
Difficult words: indigenous (the first people who live in a place), implant (to put something in a person’s body), birth (when a baby is born).
