Help for Gaza – level 3

01-08-2025 07:00

Palestinians in Gaza say recent aid efforts are failing to reach most people. On Sunday, Israel and other nations dropped food packages and sent aid trucks into Gaza, but many residents say they received nothing.

Israel has started daily 10-hour tactical pauses to allow humanitarian aid through; however, the UN and World Food Programme say these pauses are not enough. People fear collecting airdropped supplies because falling boxes have injured or killed civilians. Displaced families live in tents without food or clean water. Some say there is no real ceasefire, as bombings continue.

Israel agreed to allow limited aid after global outrage over images of starving children. Israel claims Hamas steals aid to support its operations, but Hamas denies this. The UN says it has enough food for three months, but many people haven’t eaten for days and face famine-like conditions. The situation remains critical, with hunger worsening across the population.

Difficult words: tactical (related to planned military actions), ceasefire (stop in fighting), famine (extreme lack of food).
