Houston Bar Explosion – level 3

17-06-2020 07:00

A bar near downtown Houston, US, exploded on Friday early morning. Luckily, the bar had closed at 11 pm the night before, and officials believe that nobody was in the building when the blast occurred.

So far, no injuries have been reported; however, nearby residents said that the blast broke home windows and knocked photos off walls. A food truck that was standing near the bar was also completely destroyed.

Investigators have begun to investigate the cause of the explosion, and early reports indicate that the damage was caused by a gas explosion.

Apparently, the bar reopened only a few months ago, after it had been closed for more than a year for renovations.

Difficult words: blast (a big explosion), occur (to happen), indicate (to show or to be a sign of something), renovation (changes or fixes to an existing place).
