Jacinda Ardern resigns – level 1

25-01-2023 07:00

Jacinda Ardern is the prime minister of New Zealand. She is in the job since 2017. She becomes a mother in 2018.

Last week, Ardern says that she will stop her job. She does not have enough energy. She believes that someone else can do the job better. The news surprises everyone. Right now, people aren’t sure who will be the next prime minister.

Ardern is one of the best leaders of the country. She deals with many difficult situations. For example, she deals with a mass shooting in Christchurch, a volcano eruption, and the coronavirus.

Difficult words: prime minister (the leader of a government), mass shooting (when a person kills many people with a gun), volcano eruption (when a mountain explodes).
