Mexico Earthquake – level 1

An earthquake is in Mexico on Tuesday. The earthquake is very strong. Houses fall down. Water pipes break. The earthquake kills six people. Many people must go to hospital.

The earthquake damages some hospitals, too. Officials must evacuate some hospitals. They take the patients and medical workers to a safe place. However, two hospitals look after patients with COVID-19. The situation is very serious. The coronavirus can move to more people easily. Many people have COVID-19 in Mexico. 24,000 people die from COVID-19. The earthquake makes everything worse.

Earthquakes happen very often in Mexico. They kill thousands of Mexican people in the past.

Difficult words: earthquake (when the earth moves), water pipe (tube through which water gets to buildings).
