New rules on the US-Mexico border – level 1

16-05-2023 07:00

The United States and Mexico have new rules for people who want to cross the border.

In the past, there is Title 42. This rule makes it easy to send migrants back when COVID-19 ends. But the new rule limits asylum. Migrants worry. They do not understand the situation. Many people come to the border with the US. Some courts are deciding if the new rules are okay.

The Mexican government also makes it harder for people to travel in their country. This makes it harder for migrants.

Difficult words: border (the place where two countries meet), migrant (a person who moves to another country), asylum (the situation when a country or person offers a safe place to someone who is in danger).

You can watch the original video in the Level 3 section.

What are the new rules for people trying to cross the border between the United States and Mexico?
